Does Amazon accept cryptocurrency or Apple Pay?

Amazon does not accept cryptocurrency, and Apple Pay is not a payment option on Amazon in most countries. Amazon accepts cards, so a card funded with crypto is the way to pay.

Amazon also checks the card against the marketplace. A card that works on amazon.com will not necessarily work on amazon.de, because each marketplace is treated as a separate store with its own payment rules.

Why your card gets declined on Amazon

The refusal is almost never about the card itself. Four checks run at once, and one mismatch is enough.

• Your bank blocks foreign online payments. On many cards this is off by default and has to be switched on.
• The card country does not match the account or billing country, and the merchant compares the two.
• There is no headroom for the verification hold. The merchant freezes a small amount and releases it later.
• Several failed attempts in a row, after which the payment method gets flagged for a few hours.
• The card has to match the marketplace you are buying on, not just the country you live in.

What it actually costs with our card

The virtual card is $49.99 once, with no monthly fee and no inactivity fee. Topping it up costs 3% plus the network fee, and the network fee varies a lot: BEP-20 and Polygon are the cheapest, TRC-20 and ERC-20 cost more. The per-transaction limit is $10,000.

For a $100 order, fund about $115. Amazon often holds slightly more than the final total and releases the difference after dispatch.
